It’s amazing how “who we are” is really an evolution.  Seven years ago I would have started a bio claiming that my entire existence and persona were wrapped up in being a musician.  I began a serious study of the piano at age 3, graduated with a Bachelors in Music Composition from USU,  Masters in Music Composition from BYU, and have taught almost 200 different piano students through the years.  I dreamed of a life–not on the stage–but behind the scenes.  I wanted to write music for musical theater, and other great vocal and instrumental works.  This was my greatest desire.  My passion that was so strong it hurt.

Today,  I have evolved into someone very different than I expected.  I have a wonderful husband, a growing baby in my belly, and though I still teach piano, my passions have wandered.  My passion for composing music is in hybernation, and I really do look forward to the time it wakes up from its nap–I blame graduate school entirely for killing the fire–but rather than focus on the pain of my music composing taking an extended sabbatical, I have found solace through other artistic merits such as photography and writing.  I suppose despite the medium, I have a need to create.  A need to tell a story, to illustrate a principle or value, to discover… and whether it is through the lens of a camera, a lyrical song, or the written word, my goal is to share those stories and values for the betterment of our world.
